Privacy Policy

Effective October 26, 2026

The Clock Widget is provided by Kintsugi LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). This policy explains how information is handled when you use The Clock Widget website at www.theclockwidget.com, its mobile apps, and their home screen widgets. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@theclockwidget.com.

The main points

Information stored on your device

The clock saves your selected cities, time zones, city coordinates, custom labels, appearance, working hours, and other preferences in browser storage or the app's device preferences. It also saves your calendar connection choice, selected calendar identifiers, and default destination calendar identifier when you use those features. City search, map interaction, time-zone calculations, and event planning run on your device. We do not request GPS location or access to your contacts, microphone, camera, or photo library.

The website uses local storage to remember your clock preferences, whether you dismissed the app banner, and your analytics choice. App and city-data files may be cached to improve performance and support available offline features. These functions do not require analytics consent. A banner dismissal suppresses the banner for two hours; its timestamp may remain in storage until it is replaced or you clear site data.

Optional calendar access

Calendar connections are available in the installed iPhone, iPad, and Android apps. If you choose to connect calendars, the app requests permission to read device calendars so it can list calendars, show selected events, draw event arcs, and check time overlaps. Reading existing events requires full calendar access on iOS. Saving an event may use Add Events Only permission on supported iOS versions when writing to the device's default calendar; Android saving requires calendar read and write permissions. Editing or deleting an existing event requires the corresponding read and write access.

Calendar names, event identifiers, titles, dates, times, and all-day or recurrence information needed for the interface are held in memory while the app runs. The app does not persist calendar event records in its settings or upload them to us. Notes, locations, reminders, and attendee lists are not used for analytics or copied into widget preferences. Existing notes, locations, reminders, and guests are preserved when you edit an event.

When you save, edit, or delete an event, the app sends the requested change directly to the device calendar. Your operating system and calendar account provider handle any synchronization with services such as iCloud, Google Calendar, or Exchange under their own terms and privacy policies. Recurring-event edits and deletions follow the option you select. The clock does not send invitations itself; your calendar provider may handle notifications associated with changes to its events.

Home screen widgets

The mobile apps share selected city labels, time zones, supported display preferences, the calendar connection flag, and selected calendar identifiers with their own widget components locally on your device. Widgets can read timed-event start and end values from the selected device calendars using the permission already granted to the app. They use these values to draw event arcs; they do not display event titles, notes, locations, or attendees. Event records and meeting drafts are not written to shared widget settings.

The iPhone widget can retain event time ranges in its system-managed timeline. The Android widget reads today's ranges during updates. The operating system manages widget storage and refreshes. Apple may also display an iPhone widget on a compatible Mac through its iPhone Widgets feature; that transfer is managed by Apple.

Website delivery and technical records

The website and mobile apps download their interface, artwork, and city data from www.theclockwidget.com. The mobile apps also check a release file for interface updates. Those requests do not include saved city choices, search terms, calendar content, or event-planning details. Like other website requests, they can expose your IP address, requested file or page, request time, browser or device information, and technical error information to our hosting and infrastructure providers.

We use Vercel to deliver and secure the website. Technical records may be processed to operate the service, troubleshoot failures, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. The clock requires a connection to load its hosted mobile interface; native widgets can continue showing time independently. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for its own processing practices.

Optional website analytics and your choice

Google Analytics is enabled by default on the public website. There is no startup consent prompt. You can turn website analytics off at any time using the control below. Opting out does not affect clock features. Analytics is disabled in the native mobile apps.

While website analytics is on, Google may process page views, referrers, timestamps, browser and device information, approximate region, and cookie-based identifiers to provide website usage reports. We exclude query strings and fragments from the page and referrer values we send. We do not send calendar records, meeting titles, saved city labels, city-search text, or form contents to Analytics. Advertising signals and advertising personalization are disabled, and we do not use Analytics for targeted advertising.

We remember your analytics preference in this browser until you change it or clear site data. Opting out stops further analytics collection in this browser and clears the Analytics cookies accessible to this site. It does not automatically erase reports already processed by Google. Analytics cookies are configured to expire after up to 180 days. Clearing site data or using another browser or device returns to the default setting unless you opt out there too. If your browser blocks preference storage, your choice applies only to the current visit.

Website analytics is on by default.

Google's processing, safeguards, and international transfers are described in Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Sharing, exports, and communications

On the website, Add to Calendar creates an event file for you to download, share, or import. If you use a device share sheet, your operating system and the destination you select receive the content you choose to share. Exported files and saved calendar events remain in those destinations until you remove them there. External websites and app stores handle their own information under their own policies.

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to include. We use them to respond and resolve your request. Please avoid sending confidential calendar contents or other unnecessary personal information. We may disclose information we hold when reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect rights or security, or complete a lawful business transfer subject to appropriate protections.

Retention, deletion, and permissions

Device preferences remain until you reset them, clear app or browser data, or uninstall the app, subject to operating-system backup and restore behavior. Reset in Settings returns clock preferences to defaults. Browser caches and consent or banner records can be removed by clearing this site's data. Removing the app does not remove exported files or events already saved to a calendar.

Disconnecting calendars clears the app's in-memory calendar cache and stops further reads through that connection. Closing the app also releases its in-memory cache. Disconnecting or resetting preferences does not itself revoke operating-system permissions or delete events. You can revoke calendar access in device settings; changes to shared widget preferences take effect when the system next updates the widget.

We keep correspondence and operational records only as needed to handle requests, operate and secure the service, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Hosting providers and Google apply their own retention controls to the information they process; analytics cookie lifetimes are separate from report retention. There is no Clock account or server-side profile of your saved cities or calendar events to delete.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority. Contact hello@theclockwidget.com to make a request. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify and handle it. Because device-only information stays on your device and website analytics is not linked to a Clock account, we may not be able to identify particular records from an email address alone. We will explain any applicable limits and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

We process information to deliver and secure the service, respond to requests, meet legal obligations, and understand website usage. Your rights and our responsibilities depend on applicable privacy law. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ.

Children, security, and changes

The Clock Widget is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact hello@theclockwidget.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

We use HTTPS for website delivery and rely on operating-system permissions and app storage for local information. No system can guarantee complete security. We may update this policy when features, providers, or data practices change and will revise the effective date. If a change requires new consent, we will obtain it before starting the relevant processing.
